We are able to lend hats which we have in a variety of styles and sizes. Our hats are checked to BHS standard and we can generally advise if they don't fit, however hats should be fitted by specialists and therefore Penshaw Equestrian Centre will not accept any liability for the fit and/or injuries that may occur.
We have a range of riding boots in all sizes and styles however they are not of new quality and therefore Penshaw Equestrian Centre will not accept any liability or damage howsoever caused.
We strongly advise all our clients to remove all jewellery and piercings before riding or handling horses.
We also recommend that fingernails are short and gloves are worn.
Any jewellery or piercings not removed will be worn at the riders own risk.
Yes, everyone is welcome to ride, we ask all customers to do an induction lesson which is bookable through ECPro our online booking system. We do hold a weight limit so if unsure, please just send a message.

From 2.5 years for 30 min lesson with 15 min groom and 15 min ride
From 4 years old, once graded we have group lessons throughout the week and weekend.
Private sessions are available for more intense one on one instruction and should be used to improve a particular movement.
Yes, we have a minimum of 4 up to a maximum of 16 children.

Please note that if a complaint relates to allegation of ill treatment of a child or adult at risk, then the Centres Safeguarding Policy will be followed.
When a complaint is received
The following details of a complaint are recorded:
• Name of complainant and contact details
• Date of receipt
• Nature of complaint
Complaint details will only be circulated to those with direct need to be informed upon the complaint.
Complainant details will be deleted from the complaintprocedure record when the complaint is closed, prior to the complaint being
logged.
Responding to a complaint
The Centre Manager or Assistant Manager will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within 2 working days
Depending upon the nature of the complaint, the Riding School Manager may choose either of the following options;
In situations whereby the complaint may require further time allowance to enable further investigation then the Centre Manager will inform the complainant.
Once the investigation is closed, the Centre Manager will initiate appropriate action in response to the complaint.
Details of the investigation and any resulting outcome will be recorded in the complaints procedure record in line with current GDPR regulations.
