Penshaw Equestrian Centre was established in 1977 and since this time the riding school and livery yard has expanded to its present size.
The centre boasts a very large outdoor arena and two indoor arenas with viewing balconies for spectators.
We hold regular shows including showjumping, dressage and showing.
Clinics are held on a monthly basis and we also have guest instructors visiting.
Our Cross Country course and arenas are available to hire.
With a wide variety of schooled horses available for complete beginners to competent riders whilst riders with their own horses are also welcome. We offer riding tuition across all levels from tiny tots (age 2.5+) to riders wishing to do their BHS Examinations.
I started riding last year but was abruptly stopped due to Covid! Feeling a little bit anxious about coming back to ride, however I had no need to be concerned. Everything I expected to be in place i.e hand sanitizer etc was in place!

We recently had a Children's party at Penshaw Equestrian Centre, the kids had an amazing time, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Sarah, our daughter, has now started regular lessons and is already planning her next party...

I have recently taken up horse riding as a hobby – PEC couldn’t have been more helpful on getting me on to my horse riding journey. It wasn’t something I was going to take too seriously however my teacher has made this fun & informative and part of my weekly routine!
